The first phase of vaccination for Human Papilloma Virus will begin on September 25, 2023 and will be followed with subsequent vaccination in 2025.

This was disclosed at the stakeholders meeting conducted by Akwa Ibom State Primary Health Care Development Agency with support from Happi Comsortium.

The meeting was convened to sensitize stakeholders on the Introduction of HPV vaccines in Nigeria.

Speaking on this, the Director, Health Education and Promotion, Mrs MAGARET ETIM noted that Akwa Ibom State has been selected among the sixteen states across the country for the first batch of the vaccine campaign.

The targeted population for the vaccine is the female children, from Nine to Fourteen years, due to their peculiarities vulnerability.
