LAGOS GOVERNOR AMBODE SUBMITS APC GOVERNORSHIP NOMINATION FORM, DENIES RIFT WITH PARTY LEADER, BOLA TINUBU

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has played down speculations of a rift with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, saying reports to such effect were untrue.

Both the social and traditional media have been flooded with news of a major rift between Tinubu and Ambode over an alleged disagreement on the second term bid of the governor.

Addressing party faithful in Epe during the election of delegates for the presidential primary election and national convention of the party on Wednesday, Governor Ambode said the reports indicating a fight between him and Tinubu were out of place and that there was no fight anywhere, noting that the relationship between the him and his godfather is smooth.

Ambode specifically commended all the leaders and party faithful who contributed to the success of the delegates’ election in Epe, saying APC remained the party to beat in Lagos and Nigeria.

The Governor has however submitted his nomination form for re-election at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

2019: Dogara defects, picks PDP forms

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, YAKUBU DOGARA, may have finally defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party.

It was gathered last night that the embattled speaker had picked the PDP nomination and expression of interest forms to return to the House in 2019.

A member of the National Working Committee of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the speaker had picked the forms.

DOGARA had two days ago expressed his desire to return to the National Assembly in 2019 when members of his constituents visited him in Abuja but refused to state the political party that he would use to facilitate his ambition.

The Speaker had been having running battles with the leadership of the APC in both his state, Bauchi and at the national level.

2019: Buhari tells Nigerians not to allow PDP to return to power

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has urged Nigerians not to return members of the party, whom he described as “those who brought Nigeria to its knees from 1999-2015” back to power.

The President said this while submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.

Although the President did not expressly name the PDP, it was the ruling party from 1999-2015.

President said his decision to seek re-election was to serve and protect the interest of all Nigerians.

In response, the APC National Chairman, ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE said the party under his leadership was putting in place mechanisms to strengthen Its democratic credentials.

Oshiomhole under stress, working for floundering govt –Jonathan

Former President, GOODLUCK JONATHAN, has said there are indications that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE, is under stress.

He said that the stress could be as a result of workload and that he was also working for what he called a floundering government.

JONATHAN said these in a statement in Abuja yesterday, while reacting to a claim by OSHIOMHOLE that vote-buying started under his administration.

The former president, whose statement was signed by his media aide, also described OSHIOMHOLE as a man of double identity.
