NYSC WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST ATTACK ON CORPS MEMBERS DURING OSUN GUBER ELECTION

The National Youth Service Corps has warned politicians and their supporters, against attacking corps members, that will participate in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State.

The warning is coming just as the Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate, also declared support for INEC against vote buying, during the Governorship poll.

While speaking in Ede at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for 2018 Batch B corps members, NYSC Coordinator in Osun State, Emmanuel Attah said government places much value on the lives and wellbeing of all corps members.

According to him, the NYSC would not allow anybody, who attacks any of the youths to go without facing the full wrath of the law.

Some of the leading Governorship candidates at the poll include; Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, Moshood Adeoti, of the Action Democratic Party, Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party candidate and Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, AYO FAYOSE SAYS EFCC HATES HIM

Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of hatred towards him and insisted that he would not appear before its officials for questioning before October 16.

Fayose’s tenure will expire on October 15.

The outgoing governor had earlier written to the commission that he would be available to answer questions from the operatives of the commission on the said date.

However, the commission in its reply told the governor to make himself available on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

But Fayose, in his reply on Tuesday cited the danger of violating Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which vested immunity on him as a sitting governor.

Flood kills 31 people, destroys 10,000 houses in Kano

Kano State government has confirmed the death of 31 people and destruction of more than 10,000 houses during the recent flood disaster in 15 Local council areas of the state.

Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency, ALI BASHIR disclosed this in an interview in Kano.

BASHIR said the cost of the disaster, which wreaked havoc on more than 10,000 houses in the affected areas, was estimated at over N5 billion.

Just as Kano is counting loses to flooding, the National Emergency Management Agency has pledged to assist Kebbi State government to overcome the effect of the flooding that has ravaged 18 communities in the past two weeks.

The state also recorded loss of lives and property as a result of flooding caused by days of heavy rains.

Presidency, APC have presidential aspirant in PDP, Wike insists

Rivers State Governor, NYESOM WIKE is insisting that the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress had planted a presidential aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party.

WIKE also said that the entire leadership of the PDP in the state would decide on the presidential aspirant to support ahead of the party’s forthcoming primary.

He told newsmen yesterday at the Government House in Port Harcourt that he would never be blindfolded or misled; adding that he was aware of what the APC and the Presidency were doing to have an APC person emerge as the presidential candidate of the PDP.
