January 10, 2019 NEC SEEKS TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY ON EDUCATION SECTOR

The National Economic Council is planning towards declaring a state of emergency in the nation’s education sector.

This follows an interim report from the ad-hoc committee on the revival of education in Nigeria received by the council at its meeting today in Abuja.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Shaibu said a final decision of the matter would be taken at the next council meeting holding in November.

The deputy governor said the committee recommended that all state governors should declare a state of emergency on education in order to achieve systematic growth in the sector.
