NFF to confirm state of Nest of Champions in Uyo

The NFF has reacted to false reports that the Godswill Akpabio International stadium (Nest of Champions) in Uyo which has been the Home of the Super Eagles of Nigeria is currently in a bad state and could negatively affect the performance of the Super Eagles against Cameroon if nothing is done on the pitch before the 2018 FIFA world qualifier qualifying match slated for August.

NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi said, although the state of the pitch over time has always been prime, the federation will visit the stadium to ascertain its condition ahead of CAF inspectors, adding that it will make recommendations to Akwa Ibom state government for quick reconstructions if need be.

Sanusi noted that even as the federation would have its plan B in the case on non availability of the Nest of Champions, it have strong believe in the readiness of the Akwa Ibom state government to fix the stadium pitch and make it ready to host the World Cup qualifying match.
